AlphaSeekAllocator Network

A private network for institutional allocators

Investment staff at pensions, endowments, foundations, RIAs, family offices and OCIOs use the network to compare notes on emerging managers and to review managers AlphaSeek has already screened. Membership is free and granted by approval. Managers are not admitted.

AlphaSeek staff review each application and reply within two business days.

Who the network is for

Emerging manager work is uneven across institutions. A large endowment may see hundreds of first-time funds a year, while a family office or RIA research team sees a handful and has no one outside the firm to compare notes with. The network gives both a place to do that without a manager in the room.

Members are grouped by institution type, because a public pension officer and a family office CIO answer to different boards and work under different policy limits. Topic rooms on program design, private credit and venture are open to every member.

What members receive

Programming runs on a published calendar so members can plan around it. AlphaSeek prepares all of it for allocators, not for managers raising capital.

Weekly

Monday Manager Brief

Three managers each week from the 1,300+ in the Ashton Global platform network, with AlphaSeek's notes on team, strategy, terms and alignment. About six minutes to read.

Ongoing

Peer rooms

Closed rooms by institution type. Posts show the author's role and type of institution. Names appear only if the member chooses to show them.

Twice a month

Manager Spotlights

A 30-minute call with a manager that members have asked to hear from. The manager presents for 20 minutes and then leaves, and members debrief among themselves.

Monthly

Roundtables

One per institution room, with 12 seats and 45 minutes. Held under the Chatham House Rule and never recorded. Each room sets its agenda two weeks ahead.

Quarterly

Research library

The Emerging Manager Market Review, guides to Fund I terms, and diligence checklists for spinout teams and first-time funds.

On request

Manager screens

Ask AlphaSeek to check a strategy or a named manager against your mandate. Network members can request one screen per quarter.

House rules

Allocators speak more openly when nobody in the room is raising money and nothing said is attributed. These rules keep it that way.

  1. 01

    Allocators only

Membership is limited to investment staff and investment committee members of institutional allocators. Fund managers, placement agents and service providers are not admitted.

  2. 02

    Chatham House Rule

Members may use what they hear but may not attribute it to a person or an institution. Roundtables are not recorded.

  3. 03

    No performance in open rooms

Track records and performance figures stay in manager data rooms, alongside the manager's own disclosures. AlphaSeek clients review them under NDA.

  4. 04

    Introductions by request

A manager contacts a member only after that member asks for an introduction. AlphaSeek does not share member names or mandates with managers without consent.

  5. 05

    Private profiles

The member directory is opt-in. Mandate details are used only to match research to the member's program.

  6. 06

    Verified members

AlphaSeek confirms each applicant's institution, role and investor status before granting access.

Network membership and the AlphaSeek program

Network membership covers peer access and research. Institutions that want the work done for them can engage AlphaSeek to run an emerging manager or direct investment program, starting with a 90-day pilot on one mandate. Your office retains every capital decision.
